St. George, UT, April 2019 — Two years ago we hosted an event for 5000 youth focused on the Temple and Family History Work, called KINnect YOU. It blessed the lives of youth from 28 Stakes and 9 High Schools, and created energy and enthusiasm that continued well beyond the event.
The Area Seventy for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints requested that a follow-up event be held in 2019. We have a committee of over 30 youth from 9 local high schools. We are focusing on Indexing, and bringing the youth together in a non-competitive way, focusing on a common goal. The theme is “Together We Can Make A Difference.”
KINnect U2 will be held during the week of April 21-26, and we will have a culminating celebration event on Saturday, April 27 at the Burns Arena at Dixie State University. We expect to have approximately 6,000 youth in attendance.
Youth will be trained during combined youth meetings in their wards and stakes. Participation will also be encouraged in seminary during that week.
Saturday’s event is intended to be a celebration of reaching the specific indexing goal of having all 11,300 youth index at least one batch of genealogy records during the week of April 21-27, 2019.
KINnect U2 will include EFY presentations, youth talent performances, a concert by The Sam Payne Band, outdoor games and contests, lunch, and a keynote address by Sister Michelle D. Craig – counselor in the General Young Women’s Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Youth ages 11-18 are invited to attend this free event. Doors open at 8:00am and the program runs from 9:00am until noon. For more information please contact Dennis Leavitt at 435-669-0166 (C) or email to email@example.com.
