The St. George Chapter of the BYU Management Society welcomes Bob Williams as their featured speaker for the January 18 luncheon held and the St. George Courtyard Marriott. Since April of 2014, Bob Williams is the publisher of the Daily Herald and heraldextra.com. Previously, he had been publisher of The Southern Illinoisan in Carbondale, IL, and publisher of the Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis. Prior to those assignments he led Lee Enterprises Inc’s., former parent company of the Daily Herald, company wide sales initiatives as corporate director of sales and development, after serving as advertising manager of the Missoulian newspaper in Missoula, Montana.
Before joining Lee in 1998, he worked for Gannett Co., Inc., newspapers for 10 years, as retail advertising manager of the Great Falls Tribune in Montana, advertising director of the Coloradoan in Fort Collins where he was a Gannett President’s Ring award winner, and advertising director of the Asheville Citizen-Times in North Carolina. His experience includes five years as an account manager DDB Needham Worldwide advertising agency. Bob began his newspaper career in 1979 with a national newspaper representative firm, C.W.O.&O. in their San Francisco office. He was promoted and opened their Denver office in 1981.
Bob is a regional and nationally award winner in news/marketing/advertising. With Lee Enterprises his teams have won 4 Lee President’s awards. Recently he led the Daily Herald to the top newspaper general excellence award for Utah for 2014 and 2015.
He has been very active in many civic and industry organizations. In Utah Valley his civic and charitable involvement includes the 2016-17 chairman of the board of the United Way of Utah County, UVU Women’s Success Advisory board member, UVU President’s Circle and board of governor for the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a degree in communications. He and his wife, Jill, have three sons and a daughter.
